American Italian Food Coalition Co-Chairs Susan Molinari and Lucy Calautti Named Officers of the Order of the Star of Italy
Award is among the highest civilian honors bestowed by the Italian government.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The co-chairs of the American Italian Food Coalition, former Member of Congress Susan Molinari and Lucy Calautti, were honored by the government of Italy with the title of Officer of the Order of the Star of Italy (Ufficiale dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia), one of Italy’s highest civilian honors recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to strengthening relations between Italy and other countries.
The honor was presented during a ceremony hosted by the Ambassador of Italy to the United States, H.E. Marco Peronaci, at Villa Firenze in Washington, D.C.
The Order of the Star of Italy is bestowed by the President of the Italian Republic upon individuals who have promoted Italy’s international prestige and fostered strong diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties with Italy.
The AIFC co-chairs are being recognized for their outstanding contributions to the development of Italian-American relations and their personal engagement in preserving Italian-American heritage and culinary traditions.
“This recognition reflects the enduring cultural and economic bonds between Italy and the United States,” said Molinari and Calautti in a statement. “Italian cuisine represents a powerful bridge between cultures, and we are proud to support the traditions and producers that make Italy’s culinary heritage so special. As American women of Italian heritage, this award is particularly meaningful. We are grateful to President Mattarella and Ambassador Peronaci for this honor.”
