American Italian Food Coalition Responds to President Trump’s State of the Union Address
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Co-chairs of the American Italian Food Coalition, former Member of Congress Susan Molinari and Lucy Calautti today issued the following statement following President Donald J. Trump’s State of the Union Address:
“As the President outlined his vision for strengthening the American economy and ushering in what he described as a new ‘Golden Age,’ we are reminded that sound economic growth depends on policies that support businesses, workers, and families alike.
“Responsible and mutually respectful trade policies are an essential part of that foundation. For American consumers, open and predictable trade helps keep grocery prices stable and expands access to high quality food products. For businesses, certainty in trade policy enables investment, job creation, and long-term growth.
“The United States and Italy share a deep and enduring alliance built on common values, culture, history, and strong economic ties. This transatlantic relationship supports jobs and opportunity on both sides of the Atlantic.
“As policymakers work to advance an economic agenda, we encourage a focus on trade approaches that reinforce this vital partnership, promote affordability for American families, and foster continued cooperation between the United States and our allies.”
